Building Maintenance Grant Scheme
Eligible owner-occupiers may apply for a financial subsidy of up to HK$80,000 to repair their self-occupied residential buildings, aiming to improve building conditions and enhance living safety. This scheme is particularly suitable for owners who have received mandatory window inspection notices from the Buildings Department or whose buildings require repair works.
Eligibility
• Hold a valid Hong Kong Identity Card
• Owner of a residential unit (or member of a civil servant housing cooperative)
• The applicant and his/her spouse (if married) must reside in the property
• Aged 60 or above (meeting the income and asset limits), recipient of Old Age Living Allowance, Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipient, or recipient of Disability Allowance
• Not an undischarged bankrupt
Subsidy Amount
• Maximum grant of HK$80,000 per application
• Maximum total of HK$80,000 per applicant and his/her spouse combined
• Maximum of HK$80,000 per property (calculated according to the ownership shares)
• Maximum of 4 applications within any 10-year period
• Can be used to repay any outstanding balance of loans owed to the Buildings Department or the Urban Renewal Authority
Income and Asset Limits
Elderly aged 60 or above: • Single person: Monthly income ≤ HK$10,770 / Assets ≤ HK$1,218,000 • Couple: Monthly income ≤ HK$16,440 / Assets ≤ HK$1,848,000
Recipients of Disability Allowance: Households of 1–10 persons or more Monthly income from HK$13,090 / Assets from HK$291,000
Note: Income excludes MPF contributions and disability allowance; assets exclude the value of self-occupied property.
