Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (MWIS)
For private buildings aged 10 years or above, owners must appoint a qualified person to carry out the prescribed inspection and repair works upon receiving a statutory notice from the Buildings Department.
MWIS Scheme Details
EJW offers professional Mandatory Window Inspection (MWIS) services, assisting owners to complete the Buildings Department’s MWIS inspection, computerized reports, and follow-up repairs with a one-stop solution.
Owner’s Responsibilities / Inspection Procedures
Upon receiving the statutory notice, owners must appoint a qualified person to carry out the prescribed inspection within the specified timeframe. Window inspection for individual units must be completed within 6 months from the date of the notice, while common area windows must be completed within 9 months. If repairs are found necessary after inspection, owners must appoint a registered contractor and have the works supervised by a qualified person. Upon completion, the required forms must be submitted to the Buildings Department.
EJW provides professional services by qualified persons to help you efficiently comply with the entire procedure.
Scope of the Scheme
The Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme applies to private buildings aged 10 years or above (excluding domestic buildings not exceeding three storeys). The Buildings Department selects target buildings each year based on a risk-based approach and issues statutory notices. The inspection covers windows in all individual units and common areas.
Legal Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to comply with a statutory notice may result in a fixed penalty of $1,500. Repeated offenders may be prosecuted and, upon conviction, face a maximum fine of $25,000 and imprisonment for 3 months. A further fine of $2,000 may be imposed for each day the offence continues. The Buildings Department may also carry out the works on behalf of the owner and recover the costs.
Engaging EJW’s professional team at an early stage can help avoid unnecessary penalties and ensure building safety. We guarantee that no unnecessary works will be carried out.
Innovative Computerised Window Inspection Report
Our Registered Inspector (QP) collects detailed on-site data, which is then processed by our technical team to produce a comprehensive computerised window inspection report. The report clearly illustrates the condition of every window, highlights problems, and provides specific remedial recommendations, enabling homeowners to fully understand the status of their windows.

Developed by Easy Job Solution Engineering Limited
The report includes aluminium window structural diagrams, problem markings, and detailed repair recommendations.
